Riding Background:
I started on a recumbent at the age of 3 (my big brother pushing me around on my Big Wheel), and from that point on I have been fascinated with cycling. No kidding! Riding and racing BMX in my younger years, then dualathalon’s and a couple triathlons as a young adult. In Jr. High/ high school I saved long and hard to buy a nice British convertible, then proceeded to ride my bike to school my junior and senior year (eventually selling the convertible due to lack of use). I still commute to work by bike 12 miles each way.

How did you get into Recumbents?
I think it was about 1989 or so. I was living in Las Vegas at the time and was training for a 1/2 Ironman. While riding my Centurion around the Red Rock scenic loop I was passed up hill by a strange bike with a plastic bubble on the front. I was intrigued by the bike and asked the rider about it. It was a Lightning P-38, and climbed well. I followed him up the hill asking more questions. While cresting the top I got down into my “aero” position on my Scott bars (remember those) to get ready for the fast descent. The bent pulled away and I did not see him again until 7 miles later at a water stop. We talked all the way back to Vegas, and I was hooked.

How did you get asked to be a TEAM BACCHETTA team mate?
I raced with John Schlitter at couple of events and rode the Hotter Then Hell 100 with the Bacchetta Team. John Schlitter knows my enthusiasm for racing (cyclocross and bents), and knows I enjoy riding all bikes. I was asked shortly after the HHH ride if memory serves me correctly.

What Bacchetta do you ride?
I have a Corsa that I have been riding for quite some time modified with an Aero seat plate, a Café’ also modified a bit with a carbon seat and Bacchetta tweener bars, and a beautiful stock Carbon Aero (it’s perfect right out of the box).
