Riding Background: Ultra-Racing

How did you get into Recumbents?
I got into recumbents out of physical necessity. I’m sporting a degenerative spine which has resulted in five surgeries over the years. My Aero allows me to put in long rides without pain. I’m now back into Ultra racing after doing a lot of it in the 1980’s on the old STD bike.

How did you get asked to be a TEAM BACCHETTA team mate?
I had, by my standards, a very good ride at the Sebring 12/24 in February 2006. In fact, it was a personal best for me at the 24 hour distance (437 miles). Rich Pinto and a contingent of the Bacchetta Team were there and cheered me on and liked the way I rode.

What Bacchetta do you ride?
I’ve been riding a 2005 Aero for about a year now. It suits my riding style and special physical requirements very well. Stiff enough to turn power into speed, yet forgiving over the long haul and rough road surfaces. Best bike I’ve ever ridden.

Race results or Personal Best Rides.
